What to Look for at the Upcoming Education Technology Conference

Attending an education technology conference can be overwhelming, especially for first-time attendees. Schedules are typically filled with numerous presentations, workshops, keynotes, and expos that can make the entire experience feel chaotic. But, education technology conferences can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Not only is it a great way to stay on top of trends in the industry, but also it is one of the best places to meet innovators and leaders, and find some of the best technology products on the market. Here are our tips for what to look for at an education technology conference that will keep you levelheaded and prepared.

Approach the schedule with main goals in mind. In most instances, there’s never enough time in the day to go to every workshop. It can also be draining to run to and from conference rooms and trying to absorb as much information as possible. Over two or three days, you might find yourself more tired and stressed out than actually invigorated by the new knowledge and information.

The best way to approach a conference is to come with main goals in mind. Maybe you are in charge of finding the right headphones and headsets for an entire school that provides quality without expense of your current budget: if this is your main goal, you will want to spend more time speaking to various vendors and doing your research. Or, you might be in charge of solving a particular tech challenge in your classroom, or will be asked to report on emerging educational trends that will support classroom instruction: your main focus should then be placed on workshops pertaining exactly to the issue, or seeking out innovative presenters and individuals who have knowledge in this field. By coming and approaching the conference with a game plan, you’ll be better prepared to find what you need.

Look for recognizable vendors and booths. Amidst the number of vendors at expositions, it can be hard to find a starting point. We recommend visiting names that you recognize first, which will give you a better footing to branch out during the conference. For example, we will have a booth at the upcoming CUE 2016 National Conference, and we’d love for you and your team to stop by. As a brand that is already recognized as a leading supplier of education equipment–from laptop carts to classroom headphones and headsets–we can help you get around the conference and learn about your technological accessory options. Plus, we exist to service you: while other booths might be too busy or pushing to sell various products or services, we will spend the time with you to think about the solutions you need, and what types of technology can suit you best. From our booth, you can begin to center yourself and branch out to other booths that can be helpful for your educational center.

Bring yourself as well. Most importantly, don’t forget that you are an asset to the conference as well. Even if your main goal is to learn about education technology trends, you own experiences at your institution is helpful for innovators and vendors to hear, as it can help them find the right solutions for teachers and tech specialists. In addition, becoming a point-person for contacts in this field will help your institution get much-needed advice or equipment when needed. So, don’t forget to bring plenty of business cards with various forms of contact information (email address, phone number, LinkedIn account, and more).

CUE 2016 National Conference CUEBy focusing your search on quality equipment for your school, and on key presentations and workshops fit for the challenges you are trying to solve, you can have a great experience at your next technology conference. And we hope that you can take this guide to a upcoming conference. Where are you headed next? We are getting ready for the CUE 2016 National Conference. Will we see you there?
